  1. How Customer Habits Drive Daily Sales

  2. While there are many things that drive your sales daily, customers’ habits are one of those variables that are all too often ignored. The fact is, if you pay attention, there is potential to decode those habits and use them to your advantage.

  3. Timing This is exactly what is happening when restaurants offer speedy, low-cost lunch specials. Aware of the fact that people have a limited amount of time to eat lunch -- and wanting to offer the best value for the lowest price -- business owners compile a menu of offering that, if they are good quality, plentiful, truly fast, and a fair price, will bring in a lunch crowd daily. This idea could be used for any business really. If you are in retail and know that most of your customers come in after work, offer extended hours and discounts or giveaways to make it worth their while to stop with you rather than the competition.

  4. Season This is another version of timing, but on a monthly or quarterly scale rather than daily. Pay attention to when customers spend money on what items. Customers shop for gifts around holidays, season clothing at season changes, and baked goods for various occasions. If you own a bakery or dinning establishment and notice certain customers frequent your business at certain times of the year, offer them discounts on other items at these times. That way, when they are coming in anyway, they may be enticed to buy more than they normally would.

  5. Goals At the beginning of the year many customers are looking to lose weight, get fit, save money, or meet other goals. Tune in and use this knowledge to your advantage when driving sales. Find ways to help them meet these goals, then advertise it through social media, text campaign, or whatever advertising platform works best for your business.

  6. Convenience Make being your customer easy. Offer apps, online ordering and payments, delivery, in-store pick-up, or whatever else you can within the realm of your business to make it as convenient as possible for your customers. This will cater to the general human habit of exerting as little effort as possible. Almost everyone uses mobile devices or a computer for shopping -- whether it is ordering clothing or buying groceries. If consumers are going to give someone their online business, it may as well be your business
