El Beso (the kiss) is a large sculpture in the "Love Park" by the Pacific Ocean in the Miraflores district of Lima. It depicts the sculptor, Victor Delfín, and his wife kissing
According to local accounts, the mayor of the district holds (or used to hold) a competition for the couple who could sustain the longest kiss, and this sculpture celebrates this. The park is supposedly inspired by AntoniGaudí'sParcGuell in Barcelona
The statue "Idyll" or "Eternal Kiss" was surrounded by controversy before he finally could "rest" in San Francisco Square in down town, São Paulo, Brasil
Located in front of the Law school is an interesting statue known as Idilio or BeijoEterno (Eternal Kiss or Idyll statue), which many found it immoral and caused a bit of controversy throughout the 1950s & 1960s when the statue was placed in various areas of Sao Paulo before finding its final resting spot in front of the Law school. This statue depicts one of the poems of Olav Bilaspur, which is about the love between a young Frenchman and an indigenous women. This bronze statue was built in 1920 by Swedish sculptor William Zadig
Again withdrawn, the piece was placed on storage until 1965 in the City hall. Installed in the Largo do Cambuci, villagers held a petition for it to be withdrawn. The following year, the mayor Faria Lima decided to put it near the building of the Getúlio Vargas Foundation. Soon after an alderman complained the Tribune House, saying that the statue was obscene
