Topics for the Non-Experimental Section of the Test Matter (or Phases): solids, liquids, gases Transition between phases Elements, compounds, mixtures Solutes, solvents and solutions Basic Elements Periodic Table of Elements: Periods and Groups Chemical Reactions, Bonds and Equilibrium Acids and Bases, pH scale

  4. Matter • States of matter • Atoms, molecules, sub atomic particles (electrons, protons and neutrons) Atomic mass, atomic number and atomic structure 5th graders need to know the meaning of ions and isotopes • Orbits (K, L, M) (no need for orbitals) • Properties of solid, liquid and gas

Experimental Section The experimental section will be something like: Students will be asked to perform few steps given to them and then answer the questions based on their observations or Find the pH of 2 or 3 solids or liquids using pH paper. They do not have to identify the solids or the liquids. It is important that they adhere to basic lab skills given in the rules sheet.

  14. Potions Kit • Schools are provided by WESO a potions kit. The schools that have not received it, please contact WESO • This is for the students to practice their experimental section
