  2. Introduction This is the San Francisco de Asis mission. Founded on June 29,1776, was found by Lieutenant Jose Joaquin Moraga And Padre Francisco Paula.

  3. Mission History The first Europeans to adventure The Bay Area after it was found. The Spanish voyagers Don Gaspar de Portola and Father Juan Crespi. Quickly realizing the benefits of the Bay Area offers, Lieutenant Jose Joaquin Moraga and Francisco Palou settled the mission on June 29, 1776.

  4. Geography The place chosen for the mission was near a lagoon named Arrayo de los Dolores. The mission was built o the foggy San Francisco peninsula where the weather was often cold and damp. One important and factor in locating a mission was being near a Native American village. The mission was built near a chumash village.

  5. Agriculture Over the years 1782-1832 Mission Dolores san Francisco harvested 87,000 bushels of wheat ,Barley, corn, beans, And peas were the primary crops which means the first order in time, rank, order, and importance

  6. Mission life Life at the mission was difficult for fathers and Natives. During the early years most missions had trouble supporting themselves, Spain, and other Missions .often the ships were unable to make the trip and the other members went hungry. It took normally seven years before a mission to plant everything and raise cattle and other animals to feed everyone at the mission.

  7. People and how they lived there The Ohlone that the mission was built for, Like most of the other tribes in California, were nomadic. That means that the fathers and Natives that lived in one area for a time would move their entire community to follow herds for food or when too much garbage piled up they Would burn down and find old ones. then find another site to build their homes. Junipero sierra was a person who lived in it.

  8. Traditions The Natives Had a stick game and also Native dancing.
