  2. Situations that Cause Concussions Situation such as horseback riding,boxing, basketball,football, baseball, bowling, volleyball, wrestling, and car crashes.

What is a Concussion According to The National Library of Medicine a concussion is a minor traumatic brain injury that may occur when the head hits an object, or a moving object strikes the head. It can affect how the brain works for a while. A concussion can lead to a bad headache, changes in alertness, loss of consciousness.

  4. Symptoms of a Concussion You may have a concussion if you have difficulty thinking clearly, difficulty thinking straight, physical headache, blurred vision, feeling slowed down, short term memory loss, sensitivity to noise or light, nassau or vomiting, sleeping more or less than usual, or having trouble sleeping.

  5. What causes a concussion? Concussions are easier to cause than you may have previously thought. Even landing on your feet can cause a concussion. You don’t even have to be hit in the head. Some other things that may cause a concussion are whiplash, car crashes and blunt trauma to the head can cause a concussion.

  6. Statistics • 173,285 Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBI’s) under the age of 19 • 26,212 TBI’s caused by bicycling • Football in second at 25,376 TBI’s.

  7. Long Term Injuries Concussions do more damage than just headaches. Some long term injuries or side affects are Alzheimer's, death, and memory loss. NFL legend and 3 time Super Bowl champion, Troy Aikman, can not recall one of his championships. Joe Montana’s legendary back up, Steve Young, had to retire because of concussions.
