  8. What happens if we procrastinate? • Extra stress • Snowball effect (gets bigger and bigger) • Not our best work • Late to pass in our work • Do poorly on exams/tests • Guilt (can’t even enjoy procrastination activity!) • Lose Money • Problems with friends and family (stress)

  9. Stop Procrastinating!!! Get Organized!!! • Set priorities • Set goals • Make a plan • Five minute rule!!! • Set time for yourself • Get rid of distracters • See procrastination as a choice • “There is no time like the present” – Just do it! • Don’t wait until you feel like it • Ask for help • Reward yourself for accomplishments

BUY TIME!! • Improve your learning and study skills (Attend classes, active listening, ask questions, take notes, etc) • Review notes as often as possible • Use Active learning • Carry “pocket work” • Stay Healthy • Develop a routine • Get up 15 minutes earlier • Control your telephone, email, and Internet use • Keep the work in front of you, the distractions away • Say “NO”

  15. GET ORGANIZED!! • Select a planning tool you like • Calendars • Day planner/Electronic Organizer • Don’t leave home without it • Cross-off things as finished • Be realistic and flexible • End of day: move things you didn’t finish to the next day
