  2. As you can see the barbie doll has evolved throughly over the years. In 1959 the first barbie doll was created with the classic look of a b & W bikini . • In the 1960s the very groovy yet preppy doll was brought out. • In the 1970s the malibu barbie was created with a very sunshine look to be as beautiful as a summers day. • In the 1980s she brought the rock on to the world with her matching pink higlights and jacket. • In the 1990s Barbie was the ultimate girl next door with her unbelievable beauty. • Finally , when you thought it couldn’t get any better barbie comes out as this radiant and most elegant model yet.

  4. Barbie History • First Barbie came out in 1959, created by Ruth and Elliot Handler. • They named their doll after their daughter Barbara “ Barbie” and the boy doll Ken after their son Ken. • The brand was able to globalize Barbie*.

Barbie ATW • Barbie was set as an icon around the world to mothers and daughters of different sizes, colors, ages, and cultural backgrounds. • She was perceived as a Bimbo but was also admired for her “perfect shaped body”.(renaissance universal) • Although there were many revolts and movements against imperialism and world power, there have been no known movements against Barbie. • In Malaysia, they believed that this doll does not leave any room for children to use creativity because they believe that this toy is already “fixed” and “ready made”.

This was not a very respectful relationship according to Iran. They are considered the typical western life. • Sara, main doll, and her brother Dara were more suited to the Islamic lifestyle. • Dolls were covered from head to toe with burqas as a daily lifestyle in Islam. • Many did not think that they were going to succeed and be as popular as Barbie.

Barbie’s effect today • In 1997, the band Aqua created their one hit wonder about the iconic Barbie called Barbie Girl. • Barbie also made it into clothes and jewelry industries. • Volkswagen company recently celebrated Barbie’s fiftieth year anniversary by creating a pink and very dollish like beetle.
