  3. After disintegration of the SOVIET UNION in Ferghana valley for 60-70% of the rural population safe drinking water and normal sewerage became inaccessible.

  4. Mission: • Set up enabling conditions for sustainable rural water supply, hygiene and sanitation services with the State providing support to citizen’s organisations managing such basic social services at the village level.

  5. Geographicalregions CAAW covers by project

  6. Components: • Water Committees • Sanitation Hygiene • Youth Independent Parliament

  7. Water Committees: Goal:Assist rural population in decentralization of Water Supply system by setting up self-reliant Water Committees in charge of opperetion and maintenance of reabilitated or newly built systems

Water Committees: • Achievements:# Over 53 000people in 14 villages have acces to save drinking Water# 14 Water Committees are registired as NGO and operate and maintain water systems efficiently# 14 Water Committees function democratically and organize elections each year# Water charge collection is collected in 85-95% in all Water committees# 50% of Water Committees members are women # 3 Water Committees Directors are women

  9. Sanitation Hygiene: Goal:Prevent most common water-borne diseases by improving specific hygiene behaviors such as hand washing with soap

Sanitation Hygiene : • Achievements:# 14 local educated trainers are holding training for the local people using PHAST Methodology # 14 Young mothersgroup with in 420 Young mothers are pass PHAST training and creat Young mothers net # 280 school children pass PHAST training and create 14 Sanitation Hygiene clubs # Water born diseases have decreased more than 60%# 403 ecotoilets were build for more than 2000 users in fergana valley

  11. Youth Parliaments: Goal:Assist youth to become informed citizens in solving village problems including Water and Health issues and become equal partners with adults by respecting democratic principles of law

Youth Parliament : • Achievements:# 15 Youth Parliaments were creates in 14 villages in Fergana valley# 15 Puppet theatres with in 250 children are function in 14villages in Fergana valley # 15 Debate clubs within 310 children are function in 14villages in Fergana valley # more than 50 community improvement activities with more than half of fund raised directly from local authority # 15 Youth Parliaments function democratically and organize elections each year
