Innovative Detector Testing in n_TOF Facility at CERN

Addressing the challenge of identifying and minimizing g-ray, neutron, and muon effects at EAR-2 using FLUKA simulations and multiple detectors. Exciting developments in scintillators, HPGe detectors, and more. Don't miss the upcoming talks!

  1. Introduccionot detector test (for g-flash) at n_TOF (October 2012) Carlos GUERRERO CERN Fellow, PhysicsDepartment

  2. The problem

  3. How do we deal with this? • Not easy to address the issue: • Are the g-flash g-rays, neutrons, muons, …? • Do they come with the beam? • Are they produced at the 2nd collimator? • How to minimize its effects? • How will it look like in EAR-2? • The approach: • For the 2nd collimator contribution: FLUKA simulations (see Ida’s) • For the rest: Measurements with as many detectors as possible! • Solid scintillators: BaF2, LaCl3, LaBr3, CeBr3and CsI (see Emilio’s and Nacho’s ) • Liquid scintillators: C6D6(empty and filled) • HPGe detectors (see Rosa’s) • PbWO+plastics (see Yusuke’s) • …

  4. Measurements After building a movable detector support: Try to measure systematically different detectors, voltages, positions in EAR, level shifter (on/off), … There are 5 interesting talks coming up!!
