What is SDLC? • System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) is a process used to develop an information system. • Following a structured SDLC should result in a high quality system that meets or exceeds customer expectations, reaches completion within time and cost estimates, works effectively and efficiently in the current and planned Information Technology infrastructure, and is inexpensive to maintain and cost-effective to enhance.

  4. SDLC Advantages • A System Development Life Cycle: • Provides a consistent roadmap for developing quality software • Evaluates the needs and services provided by Subject Matter Experts • Provides a common understanding for project stakeholders • Supports visibility and predictability

  6. SDLC PHASESParallel Tracks • Two or more activities that can be done simultaneously in the systems development life cycle. • The Parallel Track activities include: • Planning and Tracking • Requirements/Design • Development • Testing

Other Systems Updates • Second Support Center (SSC) • The SSC in Durham is up and running • Building out additional capacity of the Second Support Center (SSC) in order to maximize data center capability. • National Support Center (NSC) • A second data center (not the Durham location) is underway • GSA is conducting Environmental Impact Analysis studies on two remaining site candidates. • One near the Woodlawn Campus and the other near Frederick, MD. • Disability Case Processing System (DCPS) • Wrapping up the P & A Phase & Moving onto the Construction Phase • Major collaborative effort between SSA and the user community • DCPS presentation to follow by Doug Willman and Tom Paige
