Women@UWA is a university-wide initiative aimed at promoting gender equity within academic and professional staff. Funded by the Diversity Initiatives Fund, it addresses the underrepresentation of women in senior positions. The platform facilitates online mentoring and networking opportunities, allowing women to share knowledge and gain support. Various mentoring styles are available, including peer group and informal mentoring. Outcomes include increased representation of women, improved career development, and enhanced workplace satisfaction. Everyone is welcomed to participate, including male mentors.

Background • Project funded by the Diversity Initiatives Fund • Women are under-represented at the highest levels and over-represented at the lowest levels in both academic and professional staff. • Became a university-wide initiative as a result of feedback from female staff
Purpose • Women@UWA is a website which facilitates online mentoring & networking for women at UWA in career development and life balance • Mentoring – it “fills in the gaps” so that all women @ UWA have access to mentoring • Networking – women like to network, both in person (events) and online (blog)!
Mentoring • Lots of different types of mentoring • Facilitated mentoring program • One-off mentoring • Peer group mentoring • Informal mentoring (i.e. networking) • Many women like to have male mentors
