COPIF 2013 Key Changes • Superseded the COPIF 2008 • Effective on 01 May 2013 • All developments granted Provisional Permission(PP) or Written Permission (WP) by URA on or after 01 May 2013 shall comply with the new COPIF. • COPIF 2013 Major Changes • Provision of Mobile Deployment Spaces (MDS) • Residential Development – 2 core optical fibre by Singtel must be provided terminating in the fibre interface point (in the tel riser) and another termination point in the residential unit (utility room/closet) • Handover of spaces must be done 6 months before TOP • Please refer to IDA Industry Briefing dated 09 May 2013

Telecom Risers • COPIF 2013 – telecom risers serving radius shall not exceed 40 m to the furthest unit. 40 m max
MDF room MDF room shall be located at the 1st storey or the highest basement

BCS • Broadband Coaxial System as part of TFCC submission. • To ensure that the new buildings are cable ready. • MDF and telecom risers are part of BCS • Cable tray to be provided in tel riser depending on no. of storeys, tray sizes vary for residential and non-residential • Cable trays from MDF room to telecom risers, tray sizes vary for residential and non-residential • Submit the proposed schematic of the BCS system, ask the contractor for signal strength calculation at the shop drawing stage. • Submit the layout showing the TV points location.
MATV/CATV • MATV – Master Antennae Television • CATV – Cable Antennae Television Essential Reading: Cable Ready MATV: Elect DM Chapter 15
PA/BGM/EVC • PA system are provided for :- • Offices less than 24m • Institution except Primary, Secondary and Junior Colleges • Shopping Centre – PA/BGM/EVC • Hotel or Healthcare less than 24 m • Any building more than 24 m except residential requires a PA/EVC Essential Reading: PA/EVC/BGM Systems: Elect DM Chapter 16
PA/BGM/EVC • Design in common corridors, tenants • PA/EVC ceiling speakers are to be provided 6 to 8 m apart for ceiling > 4m • PA/EVC speakers are to be provided 5 to 6m apart for ceiling < 4m • Overriding relay to be provided in the tenant units • Design in staircase • 1 no box speaker at every landing staircase • Design in Carparks • Provide horn speaker every 10 to 15 m at carpark strategic locations
PA/BGM/EVC • Zoning of speakers • Common area – 1 zone • Shops – 1 zone/floor • Office – 1 zone/floor • Staircase – 1 zone/floor
Structured Cabling System • What is structured cabling? • A cabling system consisting of server equipment, patch panels, UTP/FTP cables and RJ 45 outlets to deliver voice and data to a building. • Plantrooms required are server rooms (6 x 5 m and LAN rooms (4 x 3 m).
Structured Cabling System • Structured cabling consists of :- • Horizontal sub-system • Backbone sub-system • Equipment sub-system • Workstation sub-system
Structured Cabling System • Horizontal sub-system • Cable containment such as ladders, trays and trunkings from LAN rooms to data or tel outlets. • UTP or FTP cables • Distance from LAN room to outlet shall not exceed 90 m
Structured Cabling System • Backbone sub-system • UTP/FTP or Fiber optic cables run vertically or horizontally from server room to LAN rooms • Patch panels, patch cords, cable management systems • 200 points for 24 cores fiber optic cables • 400 points per 3 x 3m LAN rooms
