  2. Robert Mapplethorpe Started his profession in 1970 however unfortunately pass away in 1989, but his artwork still seen throughout the world.

  3. Robert Mapplethorpe mainly known for his “highly stylized” black and white portraits. Even though Mapplethorpe's subject of art varied from celebrities, to nudes or still life, he made particular controversy when he started to included homoeroticism within his work. By Robert Mapplethorpe

  4. Mapplethorpe's photography by the 70’s became very explicit to some people in the fact that his interest increased towards the S&M scene. However even though some found it shocking, he explained as “"I don't like that particular word 'shocking.' I'm looking for the unexpected. A year before Robert Mapplethorpe died (1989), the “Robert Mapplethorpe foundation” was created in aim that "the appropriate vehicle to protect his work, to advance his creative vision, and to promote the causes he cared about”.
