  1. “Faith, Perseverance &Team Work”

  2. Mark 2:1-12 A few days later, when Jesus again entered Capernaum, the people heard that he had come home. So many gathered that there was no room left, not even outside the door, and he preached the word to them. Some men came, bringing to him a paralytic, carried by four of them. Since they could not get him to Jesus because of the crowd, they made an opening in the roof above Jesus and, after digging through it, lowered the mat the paralyzed man was lying on. When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralytic, "Son, your sins are forgiven."

  3. Now some teachers of the law were sitting there, thinking to themselves,"Why does this fellow talk like that? He's blaspheming! Who can forgive sins but God alone?" Immediately Jesus knew in his spirit that this was what they were thinking in their hearts, and he said to them, "Why are you thinking these things? Which is easier: to say to the paralytic, 'Your sins are forgiven,' or to say, 'Get up, take your mat and walk'? But that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins . . . ." He said to the paralytic, "I tell you, get up, take your mat and go home." He got up, took his mat and walked out in full view of them all. This amazed everyone and they praised God, saying, "We have never seen anything like this!"

  4. The Story According to Pastor Rita • Year: 2008 AD • Town: Brockton, Massachusetts • Place: “The Church on the Rock” (Brockton Foursquare Church)‏ Setting: Word is Being Preached Power of God is Present to Heal ? Revival?

  5. 3 Things that are needed (to accomplish anything that God calls us to do)‏ 1. Faith & Belief in God’s Word & His Person 2. Perseverance & Determination 3. Teamwork & Unity

  6. Faith & Believing • Can God heal a paralytic? Can God use Me to ________? What about my _____________? The focus of our faith should be knowing in whom we believe – not just what we believe. Mt. 19:26But Jesus looked at them and said to them, "With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible."

  7. “Depending on Christ’s mighty power that works within me.” Col 1:29 (NLT)‏ “For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.” Ph. 4:13 (NLT)‏ "Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father. John 14:12

  8. Perseverance & Determination • Our determination is evidence of our faith in the Holy Spirit’s provision. • Our Tasks & Ministries are not always easy or convenient - No “quick version” • We will all have obstacles, hindrances, and opposition when endeavoring to follow God’s leading. • Apostle Paul used these phrases: “Stand firm; endure hardships as a true soldier; stay true; press on; hold firmly to the word of life; continue to believe; don’t drift away; don’t give up; watch out;”

  9. Luke11:5-10 • And He said to them, "Which of you shall have a friend, and go to him at midnight and say to him, "Friend, lend me three loaves;  for a friend of mine has come to me on his journey, and I have nothing to set before him';  and he will answer from within and say, "Do not trouble me; the door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed; I cannot rise and give to you'?

  10.  I say to you, though he will not rise and give to him because he is his friend, yet because of his persistence he will rise and give him as many as he needs. "So I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.  For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.

  11. Teamwork & Partnership • Romans 12:4-5  Just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function,  so in Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. • *WE BELONG TO EACH OTHER* *WE NEED EACH OTHER* Philippians 1:29-30a (NLT) “For you have been given not only the privilege of trusting in Christ but also the privilege of suffering for him. We are in this struggle together...”
