  2. Why Do This? • Students make something all by themselves without relying on teammates • Students can work with a relative on a project • Everybody enjoys it (almost) • Its easy to grade • It exposes other staff to your program • You can pick up some great recipes • You get to eat cookies

  4. Pointers: Color code paper or at least entry forms. Make sure all directions are printed, no verbal instructions will be remembered. Award both points and ec for participating (i.e. 1000/500).

Time line • One month - handout directions • One to two weeks notify staff, send email, require students to show recipe • One to two weeks, everyday remind them its due • One to two weeks, notify newspaper • One to two weeks - everyday remind them its due • On to two days before, handout index cards • Day before- remind judges, call the newspaper • Day of – have toothpicks, entry forms index cards ready • Day of – have coffee, milk and stuff ready for judges • Day of – have toothpicks, entry forms index cards ready • Day after – have alternate assignment ready

  7. Cookie Contest 2017 Bring a batch of homemade cookies to school on Wednesday, February 22nd before school. It will count for 1000 points. You will receive 500 points plus 500 extra credit points, just for bringing them in. This is a required assignment. They may be fruity or chocolaty, moist or crispy, but they must be made by you and there must be at least one dozen, although more is better because in order to win, there must be more than one judge’s score. Late entries and cookies from a tube, packaged mix or bar cookies are not acceptable and will be disqualified from competition as well as the 500 extra credit points. Winners will receive 1000 E.C. points for first place, 500 for second and 250 for third, as judged by your teachers. Complete the entry form on back and a 3” X 5” card with the cookie name and your entry number (no names please). Tape that card to a toothpick and stick on your disposable plate, which will be later thrown away. Bring it to school on or before your first class on February 22 to room 5201, late entries will be disqualified. You must show me to get a green “Wee” sticker as proof of participation.(you can use a stamp or something that can’t be counterfeited.)

  9. Cookie Contest All Silverado staff: We need your help as judges again. Come to foods class, room 5201 and get almost free cookies during periods 1-5, Wednesday, March 20th. In exchange you will be asked to judge the winner. Thanks for your help. McCarty

  11. Cookie Contest Alternate Assignment Make a batch of cookies. Bring them in to class on 11:03 on May 14. If they are 10 minutes or more late you will not receive credit. You will receive only 500 points not the 1000 that you would have received for the contest. The same requirements apply as the cookie contest. Please bring a in the recipe too.
