What is happening again? • ACCREDITATION is a peer review process designed to encourage institutions to plan for self improvement, with the intent of improving student learning. • TODAY’S PARTICIPATION is critical for the success of this phase of the self-study. We need to have meaningful college-wide dialogue on the evidence that has been collected.

Timeline • Fall 2009 – The purpose of this semester was to structure the self study. • Spring 2010 – Data was organized and collected for narratives to be written in the Summer and Fall! • SUMMER ACTIVITES – Updates • Fall 2010 – Narratives will be submitted on September 17. Committees will be finalizing data collection worksheets and on-call to assist ACC’s with edits. • Spring 2011 – College-wide review and changes made as needed. • Fall 2011 - Site visit in October.

Why do Accreditation? • It certifies to the general public that Columbia: • Has appropriate purposes, • Has the resources needed to accomplish its purposes, • Can demonstrate that it is accomplishing its purposes, and • Gives reason to believe that it will continue to accomplish its purposes.   10. Why FLEX Today? • Participation from everyone is critical for the success of the self-study. It’s an opportunity to accept, refute, and/or add to the data. • Dialogue will make the self-study stronger by providing transparency, credibility, and validation.

  11. How will the sessions operate? • Committee Co-Chairs will be presenting; they will “hike” you through the data and record comments and feedback along the way. • Other committee members are encouraged to attend other sessions. • Participate in a session that interests you…
