  2. The Early Years Coronado was born to a noble family in Salamanca , Spain about 1510. As a young man at court he became friendly with Antonio de Mendoza and was appointed victor of New Spain Mexico in 1535.

  3. The Beginning Of Teenage Life Coronado went with Antonio de Mendoza to America as his assistant years after his arrival in Mexico City. When Coronado finished and arrived in Mexico, he had hinted about stories of magnificent cities of gold that lay to the North and west of Texas .

  4. The Beginning of Adventures The Spaniards thought these might be the magnificent cities of gold of Cibolo described in an old legend. After hearing the hints of Cabeza de Vice, the governors of Mexico sent out expeditions with the hope of repeating the triumph of Cortez.

  5. The Great Expeditions Francisco Vasquez de Coronado led the most famous expeditions.
