  2. Corporate Numbering Consultation • Brief presentation to: • introduce concept of corporate numbering • bring attention to impending consultation document • explain the what, how, why and when behind the consultation

  3. What is Corporate Numbering? • new type of numbering for businesses with private networks • identifiable part of the numbering scheme (05 numbers) developed to meet businesses’ needs • allows increased ownership and flexibility in use of numbers

  4. How would Corporate Numbering deliver benefits? • direct allocation of numbers to businesses • rationalisation of numbering schemes • convergence of voice, data and mobile networks • simplified management of internal networks

  5. Why is Oftel consulting on 05 Numbering? • 05 currently ‘reserved’ - consulting on ‘designation’ • review potential market demand • debate outstanding implementation issues • consider possibility of alternative designation, e.g. VoIP

  6. When is this happening? • interim guidelines for allocation of 05 numbers published in 1997 and several blocks allocated/reserved • initial review completed • publication of consultation document imminent • 3 month consultation to be followed by statement
