  1. Guide Section Sweep Option in NX4 Sweep Along a Guide

  2. Create a datum plane perpendicular to the sketch plane. Draw the guide string Select sketch and draw the section string Datum plane Section string Guide string Sweep Along a Guide Sweep Along a Guide requires drawing a section and a sweep guide.

  3. Select section string → OK Section string Sweep Along a Guide Select Insert → Sweep → Sweep along Guide Or select the Sweep along icon

  4. Sweep Along a Guide Guide string Select Guide string → OK The offset in Sweep works the same as in the Extrusion

  5. Select sketch and draw the sweep guide (path for the sweep) Select Datum Plane and choose the end point to place the datum plane to draw the first section Swept command

  6. Sketch two sections on newly created datum planes Place the second datum plane at the other end of the guide

  7. Follow the direction, select guides first. Up to three guides can be selected. Select OK after each selection. Select the sections after selecting the guides. Section 1 Guide 1 Section 2 Select Swept from the Surface toolbar

  8. OK all default selections

  9. To avoid the twist, select By Points in the Alignment Method window Select Adjustable - Yes

  10. Second section Line drawn between the two points Select a point on the second section (circle) and move it until its on the same side as the point on the first section Follow the same steps to lineup the other side Select a point on the line of the first section and move it to the midpoint of the line by sliding the bar

  12. Swept Option Select Swept from the Surface toolbar Sweep and blend using up to three guides.

  13. Offset datum plane Create an offset datum plane at a desired distance. Draw the secondsection string Select Sketch and draw the first section string First section Second section Swept Option – Sketching Sections Swept option allows sweeping and blending simultaneously. Multiple sections with up to three guide lines can be selected for more complex shapes.

  14. Select Insert and then project to project the sections into the sketch plane for reference. Centerline Sketch the first guide and the centerline. First guide Swept Option – Sketching Guides Select a sketch plane or create a datum plane perpendicular to the section string (X,Y plane).

  15. Datum plane Create a datum plane perpendicular to the section stringto draw the third guide. Swept Option – Sketching Guides Mirror the first guide to obtain the second guide. Erase the reference entities and exit the sketch. Second guide First guide

  16. Select Swept from the Surface toolbar Select the three guides first then select the two sections, make sure the arrows are pointing in the correct direction. If not use the By Points option to align the sweep. Swept Option – Sketching Guides Sketch the third guide. Third guide

  18. Variational Sweep Use this command to create a solid or sheet body feature that sweeps a master cross section variably along a path. Sketch in place Sketch on path Insert→ Sweep→ Variational Sweep→ Sketch Section          Sketch         → Sketch on Path
