  1. How to Set Up Your Home Office to Ensure Productivity

  2. How to Ensure Productivity Working from home comes with several benefits and challenges. As a first-timer, the challenge can be finding a dedicated space for your home office. If you have a spare room that you can use to yourself, that’s great news. But if not, you need to be more creative and patient when setting up your home office.

  3. Here are Some Important Tips to Help You Get Started:

  4. Think About Privacy If the space is tight at home, try to find an empty corner that you can use. It can be the other end of your dining table, a corner in your bedroom, or the unused area under the stairs. Once you’ve identified a spot, the next step is to plan for privacy. You can’t always work during the wee hours while everyone is sleeping. In that case, invest in barriers that you can, such as curtains or dividers. It also helps to get signage that you can hang so people will know when you shouldn’t be disturbed.

  5. You’ll be working for at least 40 hours a week, so you need to invest in comfort, more than anything else. At a typical workplace, you probably get to step out for a few minutes to stretch your legs or grab a coffee. At home, this can be harder than it sounds. That being said, invest in a high-quality ergonomic chair and desk. Avoid posture problems from sitting for long hours, and make sure there’s enough space where you can put your essentials. That’s also why it’s crucial to look for a spot first so you can determine the right dimensions for your office furniture. You can’t buy something too big, nor settle for one that can barely fit your computer and documents. Invest In Quality Furniture

  6. Pay Attention To Cable Management Here’s where you might need the help of your IT team to ensure you’re doing things right. Poor cable management can be a safety hazard, especially if you’re sharing the space with kids. To avoid having to set up your cords each time you’re working, invest in cord management tools, such as covers and ties. If you have other remote working tools that you need to set up, be careful where you’re placing them to keep little ones from playing with them. And be sure your office computer and phone are protected so they won’t be accidentally accessed.

  7. Use Lockable Storage If you have sensitive tools or documents that you cannot let others touch, invest in lockable storage. Avoid using an existing drawer in a shared space. If there’s no more room for a new drawer, try emptying one that’s lock-protected. It’ll also give you peace of mind to know that your sensitive files won’t be destroyed or go missing.

  8. The modern office is one that you can take with you anywhere you are. During this time, that place will most likely be your home. Sure, it can take a while to get used to your new work set-up. • But with the support from your colleagues, especially your IT team, you should be able to manage without any issues.
