  2. Set Up Exchange ActiveSync to Your Mailbox When you set up Exchange ActiveSync, it allows you to easily access information that has been stored on Exchange servers with a mobile device. In fact, updated contact information, new emails and other information can easily be pushed right to your phone without a long delay when you use Exchange ActiveSync. The great thing about ActiveSync is that it works on Wi-Fi networks and cellular data networks, making it easy to stay up to date even if you don’t have cellular service at the time. Using Exchange ActiveSync allows you to synchronise one mobile device with one email account, making it a valuable tool for companies that have employees that need to access their information from mobile devices while away from the office. This means that you no longer have to be at your computer to get the information you need, whether you need access to your calendar, tasks, emails or other information that has been stored on the server. If you’re not sure how to set up Exchange ActiveSync to your mailbox, here are some helpful tips that will make it easier for you. Remember, you will need to have an Exchange server account and an ActiveSync license to be able to set this up.

  3. Setting Up Exchange ActiveSync to Your Windows Phone If you have a windows phone, you’ll want by choosing the “ActiveSync” button that launches this application on the Windows phone you want to set up. Depending upon the phone, you’ll find this information on your start menu or homepage. Next, you’ll need to click on the link that says “set up your device to sync with it.” This will be found on the first loading screen. Now you’re ready to enter the address of the server you want to connect to. Do this on the Edit Server Settings Page and check the box that offers you a SSL connection. This is done to ensure that data you send is being protected. Once this is done, hit next. Now it’s time to enter the username you use, as well as your password. You may be asked to provide the domain of the Exchange server you are using. If you’re unaware of this name, talk to your company. You won’t need to produce this information if the box is simply greyed out. Make sure you save your password on your Windows phone, making it easy to enable Exchange ActiveSync connections automatically. Hit next again.

  4. Setting Up Exchange ActiveSync for an iPhone While this is pretty similar to setting up Exchange ActiveSync with a Windows phone, it is just a bit different. Start by hitting the “Settings” button, then going to “Mail, Contacts, Calendars” and choose the option to “Add Account.” Choose “Microsoft Exchange.” You probably won’t need to add anything to the Domain area. However, you will need to provide your email, username and password information. Be sure that you use your entire email address. After this is done, hit “next” which should be at the upper right of your screen. The iPhone will automatically try to find the right settings for your account. If the iPhone doesn’t find your settings automatically, then you need to find out your Exchange ActiveSync server name. Once you know the server name, make sure you provide it in the Server box and then hit “next.” Now all you have to do is decide what type of information should be synchronised between your iPhone and your account. Save these settings. In most cases, your calendar, contacts and mail information will be synchronised by default when you use Exchange ActiveSync on your iPhone.
