  2. WHAT IS A/B SCHEDULING? • 8 classes per year (40 credits) • 4 classes, 80 minutes each per day • 1 block each day is for a 40 minute lunch and a 40 minute study hall • Classes rotate every other day!

SCHEDULING PROCEDURE • EXPLORE testing in November 2013 • Results sent home to parents by the end of January 2014 • Used for recommendations and course selections • Curriculum guide distributed to students in January • Available on the Lakeland website under Guidance • See p. 3 for a list of the “Graduation Requirements” • All core course recommendations are submitted by 8th grade teachers (English, History, Math, SS, World Language) • If you disagree with a teacher’s recommendation, you will need to appeal this to Tim Conway, Director of Guidance by April 4th

SCHEDULING CALENDAR • When will my child meet with his/her Lakeland Regional High School counselor? • Ringwood Christian – February 4th • St. Catherine’s – February 5th • Haskell – February 6th • Wanaque – February 7th • Ryerson – February – February 10th & 11th • St. Francis – February 12th • St. Mary’s – Not Scheduled!

REGISTRATION PROCEDURE • What do parents need to do to register their child at Lakeland Regional High School? • Discuss course & elective options with your child • Return forms you received in the mailing to the Lakeland Guidance Department TODAY (Library) • If you do not have the forms, they will need to be returned when your child meets with their counselor

REGISTRATION PROCEDURE • Forms Required to Register at Lakeland: • Registration Form • Record Release Form • 9th Grade Elective Worksheet • Verification of student information, policies and forms due in July/August! • School Office Pro (online submission) • If a paper package is required please contact Tim Conway, Director of Guidance.

CAREER EXPLORATION • Use the EXPLORE to help guide you • Students took the EXPLORE in November and should have received their score report in January • Career information is located on first and last page • Review this information with your son/daughter and their high school counselor and develop a 4-year career plan (required) • Everything matters starting in 9th grade!

  11. ADVANCED LEVEL COURSES • 14 AP courses are currently offered at LRHS! • Good scores on AP tests can: • Qualify for college level credit • Save money on college tuition • Help your chances for admission to college • Register and select college courses early

  13. ATHLETICS • 29Varsity athletic teams offered at LRHS • 65 total athletic teams are offered at LRHS • See p. 60 of your curriculum guide for the sports offered at LRHS and the eligibility requirements to remain eligible to participate. *ACADEMIC ELIGIBILITY RULES apply to ALL students!*

  16. HIGH SCHOOL PROFICIENCY ASSESSMENT (HSPA) • Class of 2013: • 100% of students passed the HSPA or Alternative High School Assessment (AHSA) in Language Arts and Mathematics • 97% - Language Arts • 94% - Mathematics

  17. POST SECONDARY STATISTICS • Class of 2013: • 87% - 2 & 4 year colleges • 6% - Career / Technical schools • 1% - Military • 4% - Employment • 1% - Apprenticeship • 1% - Other * 95% went on to post secondary education
