  3. Planning your student’s education The courses offered at Boiling Springs High School prepare our graduates for successful post secondary experiences. A high school diploma is the basic preparation for the increasingly complex world of work. It is imperative that students not only meet basic graduation requirements, but also explore and develops his/her academic potential with the future in mind. Course selection is one of the most important decisions you will make while in high school. Careful course selection will guide you into college or work training programs, and ultimately the career of your choice. All students are encouraged to select courses beyond the basic requirements. Students should take courses that are appropriate, challenging, and interesting.

Entrance Requirements for South Carolina Public Colleges and Universities • English - 4 Units of CP or Higher • Math - 4 Units of CP or Higher/ Alg 1 and higher • Lab Science – 3 Units of Lab Science • Foreign Language - 2 Units of same Foreign Language ( except Clemson Univ. and College of Charleston require 3) • Fine Arts – 1 unit Art, Drama, Band , Chorus, Orchestra

College Entrance Test • 4 year college and Universities Accept both ACT and SAT • ACT – Test Knowledge level in each subject area English, Math, Reading, Science • SAT – Test Higher level Thinking Skills • Now both ACT/SAT require digital picture up loads when signing up for the test Spartanburg Community College and Greenville Tech. Accept Compass Test giving on campus

  15. Preparing for College As a high school Junior, you may not feel ready to make a final decision about the college you would like attend. But it's not too early to prepare and begin narrowing your choices to five or fewer. Then you can begin visiting those campuses, learn more about the programs they have to offer, get to know some of the admissions and financial aid personnel and talking with some of the students who attend. You can apply to as many colleges as you like, as long as you are willing to complete the applications and to pay the application fees. Your college decision is an important one—not one that you should make at the last minute or without careful thought.
