  2. To Do List before Group Advising • Update ISET Checklist according to unofficial transcript • Update your four-year plan & graduation requirement sheets • Complete a GPA prediction worksheet • Check on your URSA account for registration date

  3. GPA is Very Important! • 3.0 cumulative GPA is a prerequisite for the following courses: • EDEL 445/446 Literacy Practicum • EDEL 450 Math and Social Studies Methods • EDEL 453/454 Student Teaching • Consider Grade Replacement if needed

  4. Grade ReplacementBest way to raise your GPA • May be applied toward any non-repeatable course • Contact Financial Aid regarding guidelines • Grade Replacement does affect COF Stipend • Information  www.unco.edu/registrar

  5. Where are your classes located? • To ensure your classes are at UNC… • Look for a building listed with room numbers

  6. Course Information • Please click on the CRN number for important course requirements for: • FILM 120 and SCED 475 *PTEP program requires a ‘B’ or better in ENG 122 OR ENG 123

  7. Course Options Language Arts Concentration • ENG 203 (replaces ENG 303) • ENG 218 in addition to ENG 318 or 419 • Reading Minor • COMM 223 or 350

  8. Math Concentration • MATH 395 and MED 381 – fall only courses • MATH 391 - spring only course

  9. TESL 380 • Prerequisites: • TESL 350 for ESL Concentration Or • TESL 370 for Language Arts Concentration

  10. EDEL 350 • Prerequisite for the Literacy Practicum (EDEL 445 & 446) • 2.75 cumulative GPA required • Available Fall and Spring semesters only!

  11. Please Note! • * The following courses must be completed Priorto final student teaching (EDEL 453 and 454): • EDEL 350 ART 444 • EDEL 450 MUS 305 • EDEL 445 SES 403 • EDF 370 ET 247 & 347 • EDSE 430 PSY 347 • TESL 370 or TESL 400 SCED 475 • CH 303 EDEL 446

  12. EDFE 120 • Register for EDFE 120 semesterpriorto Literacy Practicum EDEL 445/446 • Submit EDFE 120 packet even if required 3.0 GPA is pending • Placement requires a Cumulative GPA of 3.0 ESL and Language Arts concentrations

EDEL 445/446Request For Literacy Practicum Placement • Completed or currently enrolled in EDEL 350 • Proof of registration for PLACE or PRAXIS II • Partner Schools need: • Resume- Check Career Services website for assistance • One-page letter to cooperating teacher • ** Preference for placements are NOT guaranteed

PLACE or PRAXIS II • SeePRAXIS II on ISET website • PLACE/PRAXIS II Brochures in ISET Office or in Forms on ISET website • Take one year priorto Student Teaching • Practice/Review material available online www.ets.org/praxis/register ;at a bookstore and ISET Library • Print scores immediately • Score availability expires

  15. Schedule an unofficial grad Check • Semester prior to the Literacy Practicum (EDEL 445/446) with an ISET advisor • Call the ISET Office 351-2929 or stop by • Your advisor will review your Degree Evaluation and answer your questions

  16. Sign-up for your Group Advising Session • Everyone must sign-up for a Group Advising session: • Call the ISET Office: 351-2929 • OR • Stop by the ISET Office : McKee 227

  17. Final Notes • You can make an individual appointment after you have attended Group Advising if you have questions or need to discuss issues privately • No PIN numbers are given in individual appointments
