TOUR and COURSE DESCRIPTION The facility tour in the morning will give participants a first hand look at how IEC Electronics has matured in the application of lean concepts throughout the organization in the last 5 years. Walk through this primarily make-to-order, high variety, low volume business and meet what James Womack described as a highly engaged workforce. Tour highlights include hi-tech analysis lab, in-house developed shop floor control process, and examples of improvements implemented in our customer focused factory. After the tour learn about the processes that allow IEC to prosper and grow after a brush with near bankruptcy. The journey of how customer orders become product will be described: customer support & product launch process, shop floor scheduling that responds to ever-changing customer orders and the manufacturing execution system.
