The Tulip Fields of Holland,Parliament Buildings, Ottawa, Canada During WWII, when the Nazis overran Holland, the Dutch Royal Family fled, first to England and then later Queen Juliana came to Canada with the children, and lived in Ottawa for the duration of the war. In 1943 she gave birth to Princess Margriet Francisc (3rd daughter) in an Ottawa hospital. Ever since WWII, Holland has gifted Canada with 100,000 tulip bulbs every year as a token of appreciation. The bulbs are planted all around the parliament buildings in Ottawa, and the display of colour is beautiful.
