ORION Consortium - Update • Steering committee met in August to discuss progress • Current and upcoming milestones • Notification of award from USAC – January 2019 • Providers updating network design based on headcount • Design review scheduled first week of October • Steering committee will be invited to design review • Barring issues, we’re on track for July 2020 rollout! 27 It’s the fiiiinaaalheeeadcouuunnt

Region One ESC – Service Announcements Professional Staff Development Professional staff development services included within the MEGAbyte Consortium consist of scheduled workshops at the ESC as well as onsite workshops allocated based on district size. Scroll down for a current listing of offerings.  Conferences and Learning Events Annual technology-rich conferences are offered throughout the year. These include the UTech Conference (Fall), the STEM Summit of South Texas (Spring), the Student by Student Technology and Leadership Conference (Late Spring), and a series of webinars and collection of online courses.  EDTech Trends Regional Academies Learning events are hosted throughout the year to enhance and broaden educator learning opportunities. EDTECH Trends Academies are hosted throughout the year on select topics. Topics include Project Based Learning, Design Thinking, and Blended Learning.  Professional Staff Development The Region One Professional Development System (R-PDS) was developed in response to a growing need for workshop participants to easily access a record of their own professional development history and to allow school districts to track the professional development hours of their staff members. User Group Meetings Region One would like to kick-off Professional Development System user group meetings in 2018-2019!

Upcoming Events PEIMS TSDS Technical Workshop – October 4, 2018 All experience, new, and/or novice PEIMS Coordinators are encouraged to attend this hands-on workshop covering all technical aspects of submitting PEIMS collections and TSDS applications. Blackboard User Group Meeting –October 16, 2018 All SchoolWires and Blackboard LMS users are invited to join us at Region One to meet with Blackboard representatives to discuss upcoming features, best practices, and Blackboard related events. PD System User Group Meeting – October 17, 2018 Join us to discuss upcoming features for the PD System, share your feedback, network, and find out about best practices! Cybersecurity Summit – October 26, 2018 Region One ESC will host the 2nd annual Cybersecurity Summit bringing in national experts to discuss cybersecurity issues impacting school districts and best practices! PEIMS Fall Submission – November 29, 2018 College, Career, and Military Readiness (CCMR) indicators will have a greater impact for on district accountability.
