The Image of God. We were created good. “Behold, it was very good. ” (Genesis 1:31). The Image of God. We were created unique. From the dust of the ground ( adamah in Hebrew), God formed man ( adam ) and breathed into him so that “man became a living creature.” (Genesis 2:11).

The Imprint of Sin • Paul tells us in Romans that “the creation was subjected to futility” (8:20) and that “because of one man’s trespass, death reigned through that one man.” (5:17) • In 1 Corinthians 15:22, he states, “In Adam all die.”

Our True Identity is In Christ • “I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” (Galatians 2:20) • If I am single, I choose chastity… • If I am married, I choose faithfulness
Our identity does not depend on feelings, behavior, or attractions • For those in Christ, our fallenness is only temporary • “Nothing impure will ever enter it, nor will anyone who does what is shameful or deceitful, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb's book of life.” (Revelation 21:27)
