  2. MISSION STATEMENT THE MISSION OF THE CENTER FOR ACADEMIC AND TUTORIAL SERVICES IS TO CREATE AN ENVIRONMENT WHERE ALL STUDENT-ATHLETES HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO MAXIMIZE THEIR ACADEMIC, PERSONAL AND SOCIAL GROWTH AND IMPROVE THEIR POST-COLLEGE QUALITY OF LIFE

  3. Student Services • 8 full-time academic advisors • Tutor Coordinator • Life Skills Coordinator • 8 part-time academic graduate assistants

  4. Academic Services • Advising • Providing campus information • Monitoring progress toward degree • NCAA Eligibility • Maximum Contact with Student-Athletes • Tutoring • Mentoring • Diagnostic Testing Program

  5. Advising • College Advisors, as one of their many duties, meet with our students to assist them in selecting courses toward degree. • CATS Advisors work with student-athletes to ensure each student schedules classes around as many athletic commitments as possible.

  6. Mentoring • Mentors come from a corps of veteran adult tutors, including retired elementary and high school teachers and full-time staff. • Mentors work with selected students, assisting with organizational skills

  7. Tutoring • 25 tutoring rooms • Private tutoring rooms equipped with computers

  8. Jerry Claiborne Quiet Study • Monitored Quiet Facility with 116 seats where students can work on class assignments.

  9. Computer Center • 35 computer stations including PC’s and Macs

  10. Career Resource Center • Helping undecided students • Cooperative effort with the Stuckert Career Center • Resume and cover letter assistance • Job Shadowing • Internships • Placement • Providing assistance with professional & graduate school admission • Career Athletes website • Over 10,000 companies have access to our student-athlete’s resumes

  11. Personal Development • Personal Development Seminars • Coaches select from a menu of choices For example: Alcohol Responsibility, Gambling, Prevention of Violence Against Women (MVP), Cultural Diversity • Frank G. Ham Society of Character • Student-Athlete Advisory Committee

  12. Community and School Outreach • 4,300 hours of community service • Habitat for Humanity • Hope Center • Athletics “Back Pack” Program • SEC Food Drive • Special Olympics • CATS Cultivating Character • Ronald McDonald House • UK Children’s Hospital

  16. Academic Accomplishments • In 2010-11, 141 student-athletes were named to the SEC Academic Honor Roll • Fall 2011 • 15 of 20 varsity teams earned cumulative 3.00 or higher team GPA • 44 student-athletes earned a 4.00 GPA • 248 student-athletes earned a 3.00 GPA or higher
