  1. NeedDescription of need Physiological needs Survival – food, warmth, rest. Safety needs Avoid danger and feel secure. Constant fear and anxiety leaves them stuck here. Belongingness needs To love and be loved, physical contact with others, and participation in groups, feelings of acceptance. Esteem needs Positive responses from others (recognition), positive feelings from mastery of a task (self-esteem). Self-Actualization Maximize one’s potential.
