The PAXIS initiative, hosted by the European Commission, focused on developing strategies for innovation support during a joint workshop in Salamanca from June 23-24, 2005. The project aimed to cluster the 22 most innovative 'hot spots' in Europe, including regions from Italy, Germany, France, and the United Kingdom, among others. By leveraging thematic networks, the initiative sought to analyze and transfer successful support models for start-ups, fostering international cooperation and enhancing innovation across Europe. Key areas included investor networks, technology incubators, and collaboration between academia and entrepreneurs.
