What is a turbocharger? A turbocharger (turbo) is a turbine-driven forced induction device that increases the efficiency and power output of an internal combustion engine by forcing additional air into the combustion chamber. As the turbocharger brings more air into the combustion chamber, it mixes with more fuel and as a result produces more power. In reality, the turbo doesn't really bring "extra air" into the engine, it actually compresses it, which means more molecules are packed into the same space. What are the benefits of turbos?
Turbochargers offer a range of benefits, which is why they are now so popular in modern cars. Here, we list the main benefits of turbocharged engines. Power In the same size engine, a turbocharger produces more power. This is because each stroke of the piston produces more power than a naturally aspirated engine. This means that more cars are now being fitted with smaller turbocharged engines, replacing larger, less economical units. A good example of this is Ford's decision to replace its standard 1.6L gasoline engine with a 1L turbocharged engine, which it calls EcoBoost. Economy Since turbochargers can produce the same power output as large, naturally aspirated engines, this paved the way for the use of smaller, lighter and more economical engines. All modern diesel vehicles are now fitted with turbochargers, improving fuel economy and reducing emissions.
Torque and performance Even on the smallest engines, turbochargers can produce more torque, especially in the lower rpm range. This means the car benefits from strong, agile performance, which is great in the city, and helps the engine feel more refined at higher speeds on freeways and A-roads. At low speeds, small turbocharged engines can outperform cars with large naturally aspirated engines because of the amount of torque they produce. Quiet engines As the air in a turbocharged engine is filtered through more pipes and components, intake and exhaust noise is reduced and improved, making the engine quieter and smoother - perhaps one of the most unexpected benefits of a turbocharged engine. MaXpeedingRods has been engaged in the research and development of high quality turbochargers for decades. We offer affordable turbochargers made
from high quality materials and components to ensure ideal performance and durability. All of our turbocharger housings are precision cast and all of our cartridges are fully balanced to ensure a perfect fit and long-lasting boost. All of our turbochargers also come with the bolting hardware and gaskets needed to secure them to the exhaust manifold. Our street performance turbochargers feature high nickel alloy housings that are temperature resistant up to 850 degrees C. They have high quality journal bearings and benefit from high precision dynamic balancing. The high precision cast aluminum compressor and turbine wheel ensure optimized starting and reliable performance in the 200-600 horsepower range. Our sport turbochargers go a step further with a stainless steel scroll housing that increases temperature resistance to 1050 degrees C. The CNC machined aluminum compressor and turbine wheel ensure greater durability and the ability to handle extremely high boost pressures and speeds. A
stronger bearing configuration with improved thrust bearings ensures that our Sport Performance turbos can support boost pressures up to 3.0 bar and horsepower ranges from 300-850 hp. This Maxpeedingrods turbo is a universal application street turbo, some modification may be required based on individual vehicle. Perfect for all 4/6 cylinder and 3.0L-6.0L engines
