  1. Drake Army ROTC Buddy Ranger Challenge Competition (30MAR2012) • Mission: Drake Army ROTC will compete in the 2012 Buddy Ranger Challenge Event held at University of Kansas. • Purpose: Drake Cadets learn necessary soldier skills, train to peek physical condition and test their capabilities against other programs in the Brigade. • Key Tasks: • Conduct a 15k Ruck March • Complete 7 physically and mentally challenging lanes. • Complete a 4k Buddy Run • End State: Drake cadets earn vital experience for future competitions, maintain motivation throughout the day and contend with cadets from other programs. Assessment: During the Buddy Ranger Challenge Competition, Drake cadets were able to overcome all setbacks with positive attitudes, motivation, and skill. The teams well represented Drake University, and junior cadets who participated will be able to act as leaders for next year’s competition and future Ranger Challenge teams. Summary: Drake Army ROTC cadets were put through a series of rigorous events, including a 15k Ruck March, 4k Buddy Run, and 7 demanding lanes reenacting historical battles that the 75th Ranger Regiment participated in. Cadets in the event gained valuable experience competing with other teams, and learned important soldierly skills such as knot-tying and Call for Fire. Drake BRC teams created a foundation from which junior cadets are able to train to meet the stringent physical fitness level required for future competitions.
