  1. "I will never forget the destruction and suffering I have witnessed today. In the past I have witnessed many natural disasters around the world, but nothing like this." - U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon

  2. The number of people affected by the current floods in Pakistan is greater than that of the 2004 Tsunami, the 2005 Kashmir earthquake and this year's Haiti earthquakecombined. 20 million people have been affected. (almost as much as the entire population of Australia) Heres how YOU can help…

  3. Karachi Relief Trust (KRT) is an NGO established in 2007 by a group of civic minded volunteers who came together with the fundamental belief that each of us can and should make a difference.

  4. With a strong fundraising network in the urban centers, and hundreds of volunteers in the field, KRT is once again active in doing all that is needed in these dire conditions. The core group of KRT is founded by professionals, businessmen and students from various walks of life who feel that in times of emergency EVERYONE needs to step out of their comfort zone and lend a helping hand.

  5. With over 1.1 billion people deprived of safe drinking water worldwide this issue has worsened in the flood-affected regions of Pakistan. Up to 3.5 millionchildren are at high risk from deadly water-borne diseases. (UN OCHA).

  6. Millions of people are internally displaced; living in makeshift camps. Hundreds of cases of Cholera (and other water borne diseases) are already being reported.

  7. As part of its “Pak Pani Project”; KRT is deploying the EPA certified, 99.9% effective (at removing viruses, bacteria and parasites) LifeStraw Family Instant Microbial Purifiers to all flood affected regions. (www.lifestraw.com) Our project partners, SEARLE Pharmaceuticals, have pledged to match in donation the number of purifiers that we can purchase. Each unit costs just $30

  8. KRT aims to deploy 50,000 purifiers to provide up to 10 million liters of purified drinking water per day in relief camps and flood affected areas in the coming weeks. Any support from you in this respect will be highly appreciated. Thank you.
