GNIS Web Service

Learn how to add the GNIS (Geographic Names Information System) data to ArcMap using a WMS (Web Map Service) server. This tutorial walks you through the steps of adding the ArcIMS server URL, specifically targeting the geonamesmapWMS service hosted by USGS. Follow the process to retrieve data layers, ensuring only the hydro lines layer (LAYERS_HYDRO_LINES_TEMP) is activated in your Table of Contents. This guide is ideal for GIS specialists looking to enhance their spatial analysis with GNIS datasets.
