2. Gazprom VNIIGAZ was established on 1948. Gazprom VNIIGAZ is the industry’s engineering company that is involved in carrying out scientific research and developing major projects on construction and upgrading of gas transmission facilities. Gazprom VNIIGAZ works out investment projects for further development of existing pipeline systems and specific targeted programs for modernization of fuel and energy complex facilities. On the basis of the state-of-the-art comprehensive diagnostic arrangements, Gazprom VNIIGAZ develops technological, organizational and financial schemes of upgrading existing industrial facilities, providing these works with up-to-date regulatory documentation and carrying out the necessary follow-up of works. In the area of designing long-distance pipeline facilities Gazprom VNIIGAZ is developing the unified technical policy focused on the standardized design and sustainable quality of projects. Gazprom VNIIGAZ proposals for ISO/TC 67 • Development of international standards to reduce the need for internal, company specification, facilitate transfer and application of equipment worldwide, reduce barriers to trade across country boundaries, and allow the purchase of compatible equipment from multiple suppliers • Development of international standards for pipeline safety to provide the highest level of industrial and environmental safety • Use of the whole Gazprom’s experience in oil and gas activities for standards development
