  1. Lesson 10 - The Arts Human beings have demonstrated a deep, ancient need to create art. Discoveries of paintings in caves and in ancient tombs show the agelessness of our interest in art. The visual arts include painting, pottery, and sculpture. Like the visual arts, music has been a part of the human experience since before recorded history. Today, the music world includes everything from opera and symphonies to rock music and hip-hop. The world of the theater, which often combines the visual arts and music, includes musicals, plays, puppet shows, and film.
