Charlotte Rezoning Process For Conditional Rezoning • Open House Forum • Held 3 Weeks After Rezoning Submittal • Hosted by the Planning Department • Surrounding Property Owners Mailed Notice (Council District Rep Also Mailed Notice) • Very Informal – Each Rezoning Applicant Has a Table To Meet the Public • Held Between 5 and 6 PM (only 1 hour) • Community Meeting • Held Sometime After Application is Submitted • Hosted by Each Applicant (Staff Does Not Attend) • Applicant Sends Out Notice Letter • After Meeting, Must Submit the Notice Letter, the Mailing List, a Sign-In Sheet, Minutes, and a List of Changes to the Application In Response to Concerns (Must Be Submitted 10 Days Prior To Initial Hearing) • Joint Public Hearing (Council and Planning Commission) • Council Can Recommend an Additional Community Meeting

  2. Charlotte Rezoning Process For Conditional Rezoning • Zoning Commission Work Session (Sub-Committee of Planning Commission) • Can Table If Commission Feels the Application Is Not Ready To Move Forward • Town Council Meeting For Action • Note: All Conditional Rezonings Include a Sketch Plan

Raleigh Rezoning Process For Conditional Rezoning • Neighborhood Meeting • Must Occur Prior To Submitting Application • Notice to All Property Owners Within 100 Feet of Subject Property (10 days prior to meeting) • Applicant May Use the Local Citizen Advisory Council (CAC) meeting (Not Required But Encouraged) • Typically, Two Meetings Are Held (First Meeting Introduces the Proposal, Second Meeting CAC Makes a Recommendation) • Applicant Must Submit an Attendance Roster and Summary of the Discussion Items to Staff With Application • Staff Review and Report • Joint Public Hearing (Rezoning Hearings Only 6 Months Each Year)
