Why should I study abroad? • Spending time overseas is ESSENTIAL as a student of American Studies • Improve your language skills • Deepen your understanding of another country and culture • Learn to act independently and meet different challenges • Become acquainted with a different study and learning environment • Study abroad experiences are expected on the job market

  5. When should I study abroad? THE B.A. MODEL (1) Apply in your 2nd/3rd semester: • Start your study abroad after 4 semesters at UL • Take 2 semesters off = Urlaubssemester • Back at UL to complete your 5th/6th semester (7th/8th semester overall) (2) Apply in your 3rd semester: • Start your study abroad after 4 semesters at UL • Go abroad for only 1 semester (5th semester) • Back at UL to complete your 6th semester • Important: Credit transfer for courses taken at the guest university!
