History • The CDG Board unanimously adopted a resolution in December 2003, calling for the implementation of the PRL Enhancements as described in CDG Reference Document #86 • The CDG hosted a workshop, sponsored by Qualcomm in February 2004 in San Diego, California 70 attendees representing • 20 Carriers • 7 Terminal Vendors • 5 Infrastructure Vendors • Presentations and documents distributed during the workshop are available on the CDG website at • http://www.cdg.org/news/events/CDMASeminar/index.asp#04PRL

Key Milestones • North American carriers will convene to develop an MCC/IMSI_11_12 strategy specific to their situation by March 2004 - DONE • Non-North American carriers will apply for MNC's from the appropriate national regulatory body by April 2004 - IN PROCESS • All carriers should confirm with their network vendors that IMSI_11_12 can be correctly broadcast; due mid-April - IN PROCESS • All carriers to begin broadcasting correct MCC/IMSI_11_12 between May and August of 2004 - IN PROCESS • Mobiles will be available for testing by carriers in July 2004 (TBD – Terry Yen, Roaming Team)

What you need to do • Carriers • Determine correct MCC as provided by ITU • Request XY or XY0 MNC (IMSI_11_12) from local/country regulator • Test and implement correct MCC/MNC (IMSI_11_12) broadcast by August 2004 • Report status to James Person at CDG • Request your handset vendors to incorporate enhanced PRL in accordance with CDG Ref. Doc 86 • Handset Vendors • Obtain new ASICs and software • Test and begin implementation when available
