  4. PPPS Summary: 23 steps or 9? UNLESS YOUR DESIRE IS PICKING ACCURACY – NO BARCODES ARE REQUIRED

  5. Barcoding • Expensive? • What are you trying to achieve? • Time Consuming? • What are you trying to achieve? • Difficult? • What are you trying to achieve?

  6. Document the results that you want to achieve first then consider the tools that you need. Don’t assume it’s a BARCODING project. Many times you can improve the PROCESS with less time and investment than you think!

  7. ‘Barcoding’ Investment • Software • Label generation (Loftware, TL Ashford, Jacana) • User Interface • Hardware / Infrastrucure • Radio Frequency Handhelds • PC/Keyboard wedge • Fixed Scanners • Implementation • Process Changes • Vendors • Employees

  22. 22 Benefits • No more writing transactions on pieces of paper and turning in for data entry • More timely update of on hand inventory • Inventory Inquiry from the RF gun means more efficient warehouse employees • Labels (if activated by the company) can provide bar code information for scanning of other transactions (shipping, physical inventory)

  23. MAPICS Focused Solutions • Customer Supply Chain • CISTECH RF Paperless Pick Pack Ship • Vendor Supply Chain • CISTECH Supplier Portal Inventory Transactions • PM&C • Powerlink IM/MM • CISTECH RF Inventory Transactions • ISE/Infor Paperless • Inventory Counts • CISTECH RF Physical Inventory

  24. Paperless Pick/Pack/Ship Solution Benefits

  25. What benefits are realized through RF PPS? • Accurate inventory in the stock location • 30 – 50% time improvement in picking/staging Customer Orders • Takes the number of steps to pick an order from 23 to 9 • Improved accuracy of items shipped to customers • Reduced data entry for order shipments

  26. Barcoding in Warehouse • Benefits are not dependent upon implementation of barcodes • Barcodes can be used for: • Accessing Pick lists (via turnaround number) • Item Verification

  27. PPPS Product Overview Use RF Handheld devices to pick and stage customer orders for shipment! Picking • Pick list electronically delivered to wireless handheld • Pick list queue sent to handheld rather than printer • Item Number verification can be scanned via Item #, Turnaround or UPC • Transfers the inventory immediately from the stock location to a staging location • Full Inquiry capabilities from the RF device including: Pick Lists, Items, Locations, Batch/Lot and Quantity on Hand • Includes ‘Kit Items’, Serialization, Lot Control and Containerization! • Can pick using either single order or consolidated pick lists • Multiple employees can pick the same order at the same time (different items) • Option to print Pack List and Shipping Labels when order is staged

  28. PPPS Product Overview Parcel Shipping • If the Carrier is UPS, Fed Ex or DHL no further actions are required, programs will ship the order, add tracking info and, if applicable, add shipping charges Full Truckload / LTL Shipping • Streamlined shipping screens to ship LTL and Truckload orders • Uses XA Offline Shipping to create COM shipment • Optional creation of Bill of Lading and/or Invoice when order is shipped

  29. Paperless Pick/Pack/Ship DEMONSTRATION

  30. MAPICS Focused Solutions • Customer Supply Chain • CISTECH RF Paperless Pick Pack Ship • Vendor Supply Chain • CISTECH Supplier Portal Inventory Transactions • PM&C • Powerlink IM/MM • CISTECH RF Inventory Transactions • ISE/Infor Paperless • Inventory Counts • CISTECH RF Physical Inventory

  31. 31 RF Physical Inventory A New Method of Counting, Auditing and Reconciling XA Physical Inventory with Materials Management

  32. Barcode Enablement • Barcodes are required for RF Physical Inventory • Tags are barcoded • Inventory and Locations must be barcoded

  33. 33 Benefits • Significantly reduce the amount of time to count, audit and reconcile a physical inventory • Improves accuracy of counts

  34. 34 RF Physical Inventory • Creates a set of ‘blank’ tags in a non-XA file; this file will be used for tag control • ‘Tags’ are printed on peel off labels with bar code tag numbers, 30 labels to a sheet • A range of tags is assigned to a counter (must be a valid employee in PM&C employee master file) • Counters will: • Scan the tag number • Scan (or key) the item number • Scan (or key) the location • Key the quantity • Scan (or key) a batch/lot number

  35. 35 RF Physical Inventory • Counters can only use tags that have been assigned to them • Counters can void a tag (requires a reason code) • Counters can mark a tag as ‘unused’ • As tags are entered on the RF gun, the tag information is written to the Tag file • Will calculate count to location difference in both quantity and cost • Difference may be inaccurate if there are multiple tags for the same item/location combination

  36. 36 RF Physical Inventory • Once all tags have been accounted for, send the tags to either: • Materials Management as a ‘Count Group’ • Inventory Management as a ‘Physical Inventory Batch’ • Option to create zero count tags for uncounted item/location combinations

  37. 37 Tag List

  38. 38 Tags • Tags are peel off labels that will be attached to the items as they are counted • Tags show: • Tag number (both bar code and written), warehouse & date

  39. 39 12/11/07 14:31:09 Count Entry Tag#: _______ 0 F2=Return F3=Exit 12/11/07 14:38:50 Tag# 11 Item ______________ Location _______ Qty ______.000 Btch/Lot ____________ F2=Rtn F3=Exit F4=Set Tag Unused Count Entry Screens

  40. 40 Once the tag has been created, there are options to: Change the count quantity Void the tag (requires a reason code) Entered Tag 12/13/07 11:15:40 Tag# 4 Item 239402 A - GE ROTOR R8579 (4, 70F) UOM EA Location A1230 Btch/Lot Qty 415.000 F1=Void F2=Rtn F3=Exit

  41. 41 Tag File • As counts are scanned/entered, tag file is updated with: • Tag Status • Counted By (must match Assigned To) • Item, Location, Quantity and, if required, Batch/Lot number • Quantity and Cost difference between Location quantity and Count quantity

  42. 42 Tags after Count/Audit
