There is also a link to my newsletters on our class website. I am looking forward to a wonderful year with a great class! Grandparent’s/ Grand-friend’s Day Monday, 9-13 @ 1:30-3:00 Rm. C111 Please invite your child’s grandparent or grand-friend (elderly friend or relative) to visit our room. Please ask them to bring a treat to share with everyone. Please write in your child’s agenda how many are coming and what treat is being brought. Math Our first lesson is all about numbers. Students became more aware of the fact that numbers are all around us and are used in everyday life. Reading “Back to School” is the name of our first reading section which focuses on strategies necessary to improve our reading with aspects of Daily 5 incorporated. Our first story is an adventure titled Cliff Hanger & will be starting the 3rd school cycle. Reading Logs are in your child’s binder! Typically Reading Logs are due on Mondays. This Reading Log is due on Tuesday, September 3. Students must read 50 minutes per week. Please remember to initial each reading. We will also be learning about the writing process by creating a Play Dough pencil holder. Students were given a spelling inventory, which will be used to place them into spelling groups. All students are starting the year with the same sort. Tests will be on Fridays and students are only tested on 10 of the words. Social Studies/Science Social Studies-We start the year by discussing & learning about communities, reviewing map/globe skills, and learning about the U.S. flag.
