  3. What is it? Completely optional; you can still access Blackboard through regular web browser Cost: $2/year or $6/one-time Individual In-App License Purchase (requires Wi-Fi connection or Mobile Data Plan) Available now

  4. Why use a mobile app? Optimized interface for mobile devices Access key course information anywhere, anytime Push notifications let you know when changes occur in your course without constant checking Ideal for time-sensitive critical communication Great for simple interactions and quick posts or checks Not so great for detailed course or content development or other activities which require extensive typing

  7. Upload Files Upload photos or videos directly to Blackboard from your mobile device. If you use the third-party file hosting service, Dropbox (www.dropbox.com), you can upload files directly to Blackboard via the mobile app. NOTE: As with any third-party app, use caution that you do not store FERPA restricted information on Dropbox or any non-KUMC servers. Dropbox is not directly supported by KUMC so TLT and Customer Support may not be able to help you troubleshoot Dropbox issues.

  9. Push Notifications Uses native iOS Notifications to alert you when pre-defined conditions exist in Blackboard. Pushes alerts to you without need to constantly check Blackboard You have complete control over what notifications you receive You can edit your Notification Settings :Welcome > Notifications Dashboard > Edit Notification Settings

  11. Announcements Quickly read or add (if you have rights) announcements in your course

  13. Testing Instructors can create Mobile Compatible Tests which are optimized for delivery on mobile devices. If student complete the test through a web browser, it will behave like a normal assessment. Ideal for formative quizzes and brief assessments Use caution in allowing students to complete high stakes exams via mobile device due to the potential for slow or lost wireless connections.

  15. Tasks You can assign tasks to be at certain times and the students can see these and know when certain things are supposed to be done within the course. You have to assign them through the web and not the mobile app, but you can complete them through the app.

  17. Grades This tool is not for instructors to give students grades. This is only for students to view their grades.

  19. Blogs Blogs are a great feature to use on the mobile app. They are quick and easy to use. Blogs function similar to discussion forums.

  21. Roster Checking the roster can be good for students to see who else is in the course and collaborate with them.

  23. Journals Journals are a great feature to use on the mobile app. They are quick and easy to use. Journals function similar to discussion forums.
