Global View Project

The GlobalView project aims to create a dashboard that provides UK policymakers with an integrated view of the nation's status—present and historical. By leveraging diverse data inputs such as changing signals, internet keyword searches, and social media analysis, the tool enhances understanding of factors affecting the UK. It offers features like modest forecasting, early warnings about key variables, and visualization of data across various layouts. Stakeholders are invited to suggest signals and functionalities that could enhance this vital tool.

Aims of the Project • Scope a dash-board that gives policy makers an integrated view of the state of the UK, both at the current time, and into the past. • If policy makers have a better view of the UK, they can ensure it is more resilient to shocks. • Initially work with three types of inputs: • Changing signals (e.g. oil prices, house prices, temperature...) • Key word searches from the internet • Analysis of tweets to extract meaningful information to provide context for other signals

How might this help? • Gives an Overview: Given a set of favourite variables it could suggest what they might be influenced by... ...and how those influences are changing. • Forecasting: Some modest forecasting and association. Might help indicate the effect of intervention. • Early warnings: Detect peculiarities at the level of key variables and also at the level of the relationships between those variables.
