  1. Random Slides From This PowerPoint Show The Longstone lighthouse was built in 1826 on Longstone Rock. Sample Slide In 1826, when Grace was 10 years old, the Darling family moved to the new Longstone lighthouse and William Darling became the lighthouse keeper.

  2. Random Slides From This PowerPoint Show Above their living room a spiral staircase led up to three circular bedrooms, one above the other. Grace’s bedroom was on the third floor and above her was the lantern room. Inside the lantern room were the big lanterns that warned ships of the dangerous rocks all around. Sample Slide Outside was their boathouse where they kept their boat and a store of oil for the lamps.

  3. From the top of the lighthouse, Grace loved to watch the many different ships passing by. The newest ships, she noticed, had short masts and funnels which belched clouds of black smoke.
