  3. Vision and Mission We, the Officers, Committee Chairpersons, and Members of the NBMBAA (Detroit Chapter) put forth this plan for action in 2012. VISION To Become the Most Productive African American Organization in the Detroit Area by Providing Programs and Services which will Transcend the African-American Community at All Social-Economical levels. MISSION To Provide Professional and Personal Development Activities which are supported by Financial and In-Kind Contributions from Profit and Non-Profit Organizations* in the furtherance of the Intellectual, Social and Financial Growth and Development of our Members. 2012 Theme: Impacting Your Tomorrow Today

President’s Mandate • To Become “Chapter of the Year” • Through Deliberate Actions Designed To: • Increase Membership by 25%. • Increase Scholarship Funding by 100% ($9k). • Increase Corporate Partnerships and Sponsorships to $20k. • Increase Financial Solvency by Maintaining Over $50,000 in Cash. 2012 Theme: Impacting Your Tomorrow Today

Guiding Leadership Principles As we begin to move this organization towards providing greater contributions to our communities, we must first look within ourselves and begin to assess our individual and collective commitments and the role we play in motivating others to embrace the ideals set forth for the Detroit Chapter of the National Black MBA Association. 2012 Theme: Impacting Your Tomorrow Today

Membership Committee • Mission Statement: • To maintain and increase the number of active members in the chapter • Goal Statement: • To promote the value of membership in the Detroit Chapter of the NBMBAA. • Increase the Membership by 25% annually. • Retain 100% of the current Membership • Update and Maintain Current Membership Roster. • Reconnect with Lifetime Members 2012 Theme: Impacting Your Tomorrow Today

  10. Corporate Relations Committee • Mission Statement: • Coordinate corporate fund development for the organization. Be responsible for maintaining an effective network of corporate partners. • Goal Statement: • Receive a minimum of $10,000 in corporate sponsorships. (Stretch $20,000) • Host Corporate Partner Orientation • Build a network of corporations that can provide support to the organization in • terms of sponsorship, mentoring, jobs, training, etc. 2012 Theme: Impacting Your Tomorrow Today

Fund Development Committee • Mission Statement: • To identify and pursue sources of revenue for the organization that will be used to cover all general and administrative expenses, as well providing more financial resources to essential operating activities (LOT and Scholarships). • Goal Statement: • Receive a minimum of $10,000 in funding (through grants and fundraising events). • Create at least two (2) Successful Fundraising Events • Institute Member and Non-Member Pricing Structure 2012 Theme: Impacting Your Tomorrow Today

Professional Development Committee • Mission Statement: • To provide Opportunities and Resources which Promote the Development of Business Professionals and Personal Growth for the NBMBAA members. • Goal Statement: • Create Professional and Entrepreneurial Development Opportunities. • Identify and Address Issues and/or Current Topics of Interest. • Develop Subject Matter Expert Mentoring Program • Host an Executive Leadership Breakfast • Host an Industry Exchange Program. • Mentoring Program (Lifetime Members and New Members) 2012 Theme: Impacting Your Tomorrow Today

Student Affairs Committee • Mission Statement: • Develop and maintain strong relationships with area educational institutions, including minority student/business organizations, administrators and faculty. • Goal Statement: • Develop programs that promote the MBA degree to high school and undergraduate students. • Market organization brand awareness to local college and university campuses • through presentations and networking events. • Act as a resource for current local MBA students. • Establish a local collegiate chapter 2012 Theme: Impacting Your Tomorrow Today

Leaders of Tomorrow Program Committee • Mission Statement: • To continue to personally and professionally develop the business skills and academic skills of high school students. • Goal Statement: • Increase student participation in the LOT program. • Increase member participation as mentors in the LOT program. • Increase LOT Collegiate Scholarship Recipients. 2012 Theme: Impacting Your Tomorrow Today

Scholarship Banquet Committee • Mission Statement: • Coordinate the organization’s Annual Scholarship Awards (and other recognition) Banquet. • Goal Statement: • To host an annual ceremony that recognizes scholarship recipients for their • accomplishments and demonstrates the value of the scholarship program to the • organization’s members and sponsors. 2012 Theme: Impacting Your Tomorrow Today

Community Service & Development Committee • Mission Statement: • To establish and maintain a presence in and a contribution to the African American, Academic and Corporate Communities. • Goal Statement: • Host at least two (2) Community Service Events. 2012 Theme: Impacting Your Tomorrow Today

Public Relations Committee • Mission Statement: • To serve as a conduit for internal and external communications via various media venues, with the goal of enhancing promotion of the NBMBAA organization in the professional community; and continuous development of current and future corporate relationships. • Goal Statement: • Create public awareness of the Detroit Chapter by promoting ALL Events. • Research and implement media selections based on demographic parameters. • Develop partnership programs and/or sponsorships with media vendors • Create Value for our target audience/prospective members. • Utilize social media sites to market activities and events 2012 Theme: Impacting Your Tomorrow Today
