  6. Preparation • Do you have stage freight/fear of public speaking?

  7. Preparation • Do you know the purpose of your presentation? • Do you know your subject well? • Do you know who are your listeners/audiences? • Most importantly; KNOW YOUSELF.

  8. Preparation • Reducing fear of public speaking:- • Focus on communicating your message. • Look at the audience. • Don’t be defensive. • Be comfortable with your self. • Speak up! • Gesture naturally. • Arrive early! • Have your presentation ready.

  15. Delivering your presentation • Eye contact binds you and your audience - don’t hide behind a podium. • Stay calm, confidence, speak up - not too fast and not too slow.

Audience loose interest if they cannot see you or your presentation. Acknowledge your audience. Establish and maintain eye contact throughout the presentation.

  20. The use of Visual, Verbal and Vocal in a Presentation • Verbal :- 1. Uniqueness in using language. • - do not patronized. • - do not use too much jargons/terms. • - do not use slang/street language. • 2. Be energetic. - use words in a conversational manner. - use strong, high impact words.

  21. The use of Visual, Verbal and Vocal in a Presentation • Vocal :- • Speak in a calm, slow pace rate. • Watch the tone of your voice. • Be comfortable. • Do not over do it. • Let your audience hear you. • Energetic, avoid monotonous presentation. • Deliver with confidence and credibility.

  22. Handling Interruptions • Ignore them. • Discourage them. • Address the interruption. • Use assertive comments “I can see there are some excellent comments from the audience, would you please share your thought with us?” • Deal with it.

  23. Conclusion As important as your opening. An indication of the end of your talk. Summarize all your points Use key words, brief and simple sentence. Reinforce your central ideas, make an impact!

  24. Question and Answer Pay attention to the question. Paraphrase the question. Answer briefly. Answer as much question. Be fair. Be honest. Deal with ‘problematic’, ‘overenthusiastic’ participant. Maintain credibility.
