Beam Dump Window (VDWB)

This update outlines the design and progress of the 15mm thick C-C sheet support window used in the beam dump module, including a 0.15mm thick welded stainless foil with flanges for the dump chamber. A small AT-TS project team is addressing production and design issues. While stress analysis is ongoing, impacts on design appear minimal. The choice of titanium for the window could provide additional margin for failure modes, though it does not align with the project schedule. Material availability and adherence to manufacturing timelines are critical for timely delivery.

  6. Summary • Design • Detailed design has started to allow materials to be ordered • A small AT-TS project team is looking at production and design issues • Some analysis is still in progress (the single kicker failure cases), but this is not expected to impact the design • A titanium window would give some more margin for the single kicker failure modes, but implementation is not consistent with the project schedule • Schedule • Expected delivery is not compliant with installation schedule • Delivery will be very dependant on availability of materials and respect of manufacturing schedules Window status- R.Veness
