  1. 2009 in Review At Phil & Marlene Steinweg’s

  2. December 2008 with Bryan, Elizabeth, Tiffany & Grant It seemed like we looked at every tree on the lot!

  3. Bryan’s Family – Special Memories Christmas Puppet Fun During our Mid-December visit, 2008, we helped find and decorate the perfect tree. We had some puppet fun and were there for Grant’s Baptism. This third photo is of Tiffany and Grant with their dog, Bridget on a hike in July.

  4. Christmas 2008 at Home, Phil, Marlene & Gloria

  5. Memories with Gloria 2009 Here are Some of Gloria’s Students at the Redlands Art Association Gloria introduced Us to the June Lavender Festival, Which we all enjoy. Here we are In the Lavender fields. Here on her Birthday party in January, playing with Ethan.

  6. Christmas 2008 with Scott, Helen,Gareth, Brenden & Ethan

  7. Memories 2009 with the Siegel’s It’s great having Scott and Helen living close by. Some fun things we do are pictured here – top we are at the San Diego Zoo. On the right the “boys” in our Car going to Sea World, and lower, at Sea World,San Diego.

  8. Fun with Ethan Siegel 2009 What fun watching Ethan grow up from a baby to a toddler, this year. He is really cheerful and loving. Great hugs! Here he is with his Granddad, at his birthday party and taking his first steps. Photos taken by his proud Granddad, Phil and Aunt Gloria.

  9. Fun with Brenden Siegel 2009 We love having Brenden, who’s 4, for “sleepovers.” When he does we like to take him places. He’s really easy to handle when he is the only one with us. Photos, starting upper left: At Sea World San Diego, and at the Wild Animal Park, Escondido. Brenden was a “Little Lamb” in the Adventurer’s club at their church last year, and here he is graduating.

  10. Memories 2009 with Gareth Siegel Gareth will be 8 on his next birthday. He’s being home-schooled now by his parents. He’s really crazy about Ethan (above, left.) In the second photo he’s working on some classwork during a “sleepover.” Here you see him with “Grandmother” working on his treehouse. Finally, Graduating from his Adventurer class.

  11. Amy, Roger, and their children, Nathan and Alyssa still live on the Island of Paata. This year a missionary group built the second floor of the grade school they have been working on, bringing the grade levels they can serve up through eighth grade. Here are some photos taken this year, clockwise: Roger’s Birthday, Paata SDA Church, Alyssa’s Birthday Picnic in Guam & Amy and kids on Father’s Day.

  12. Mentone Vegetarian Cooking School This Spring, we worked with a great team of volunteers at our church to conduct a series of 6 classes (Sundays only), promoting the benefits, and teaching the hows and whys of the plant-based diet. Again, the Lord blessed throughout, in spite of Marlene’s starting the class with laryngitis! (Helen taught in her place.) Photos: The attendees one night, and Marlene making a point.

  13. Vegetarian Seminar, Lamont, CA Early in August, Phil and I accepted an invitation from old friends, Rebecca and Errol Perilla, to conduct a weekend seminar at their church near Bakersfield. Photos: Phil preaching on Sabbath, Phil helping prepare for the class, and Marlene with many of the volunteers who helped make the Seminar a success.

  14. Marlene continues singing with the Canto Bello Chorale, a really super group of singers. We have 4 to 5 concerts a year. Phil here and Helen and Gloria (below), are Marlene’s greatest fans. Right lower, after CBC’s November concert honoring veteran’s Day. The solo Marlene sang is “God Bless the USA.” Canto Bello Chorale

  15. Marlene is leading her church’s Pathfinder and Adventurer Club, part of the church’s youth ministry. Thanks to the families involved, the club is growing. Photos: Some parents shown in the photo below taken at our camp kitchen last April when we camped in 3 inches of sleet! Lower right, graduation in May. Upper right, Campout this November. The last photo shows this year’s group at the dedication service (click to see.) Marlene’s Fun

  16. “Win some, lose some,” they say. This year the frost took a lot of our fruit. However, we got beautiful garlic (including elephant), beets, pumpkins (planted by Gareth and Brenden), and lots of okra and squash. Garden Fun Here the boys Harvesting their Giant pumpkins. Phil with one giant garlic.

  17. Phil’s Fun Phil brings home orchid plants on a regular basis, so now we own about 30! He’s an avid computer buff, photographer, weather observer (on his personal weather station), and music lover. All this in addition to keeping up on the latest health news, which he shares with the Spanish group at our church monthly. Photos: some of our orchid collection. Phil took this photo of a neighbor’s cactus flower.

  18. In late August, we took a long anticipated trip that started in Washington, D.C. and ended in Pittsburgh, PA. We had a pleasant tourist trip in D.C. and then visited Marlene’s family and friends in Ohio and PA. August Trip Here, Phil by the Capitol and photos from our camping trip with Marlene’s sis, Lynda and hubby, Mark. We camped in Elk County, spotting elk both nights we were there. Great fun!

  19. NHS Class of 1959 Reunion Two big events during this trip were the class reunions, one Saturday night with Darlington High School and one Sunday afternoon with Northwestern High School, Class of 1959. Here’s the photo taken of the group on Sunday. Back row: Marlene, Chuck, Glenn, Jimmy, Kay, Lowell, Carol, Johnny Front row: Larry, Joan, Joe B., Norma, Carol V., Nancy, Helen, Judy, Peggy

  20. A Heartfelt Message This has been a grand year, one that brings us 365 days nearer to the second coming of the One whose birth we are celebrating at this wonderful season of the year. We have elected a new president, seen great national financial problems, the wars in Afganistan and Iraq continue escalating… What are some of the signs that Jesus is coming soon? The Scriptures in Matthew 24:6, 7, 14 say: “And ye shall hear of wars and rumors of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all [these things] must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. . . And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.” “In the last scenes of this earth's history war will rage. There will be pestilence, plague and famine. The waters of the deep will overflow their boundaries. [sound like global warming?] Property and life will be destroyed by fire and flood. We should be preparing for the mansions that Christ has gone to prepare for them that love Him.” Last Day Events, page 24.

  21. May our Lord and Savior be especially close to each one of you in whatever time remains for us to prepare for His coming. All our love, Phil and Marlene Steinweg
