What is the Public Mental Health System? • The public mental health system provides: • Mental health services for Medicaid enrollees; • Evaluation of people in severe crisis regardless of income or insurance status; • Administration of the Involuntary Treatment Act (involuntary commitment); • Longer term care at Eastern and Western State Hospitals.

    4. Parts of the System Legislature Appropriates Funding Regional Support Networks Pend Oreille Stevens Outpatient Providers Community Hospitals/Evaluation and Treatment Centers Counties Eastern and Western State Hospitals

    6. Funding Sources Funding Sources for RSNs: • Federal/State Medicaid • State only (non-Medicaid) • County • Special contracts • Sales tax

    7. Services Provided • Outpatient services for Medicaid enrollees • Non-Medicaid outpatient services are provided as resources allow: • Crisis services; • Some outpatient/residential services to priority populations. • Sales tax has been used to increase access in some counties • Inpatient hospitalizations
